We believe in minimal data collection and maximum transparency.
This Privacy Policy explains how ExJW Analyzer ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit exjwanalyzer.com and its subpages. We've written this to be plain and readable, not a wall of legalese.
1. Information We Collect
Functional Cookies
We store a single cookie named exjw_theme on your device.
This cookie saves your light or dark mode and font size preferences so the site remembers your choice
across visits and across all pages on this domain (including the EXJW Wiki). It contains
only the value "light" or
"dark" and no personally identifiable information.
It is strictly functional — not used for tracking, advertising, or analytics.
Server Logs
Like virtually all web servers, ours automatically records basic request information: the page requested, the date and time, your IP address, and the browser/OS you're using. These logs are used only for server maintenance and security purposes and are not shared with third parties.
Information You Send Us
If you contact us by email at jonathanlegerpodcast@gmail.com, we receive whatever you include in that message. We use this only to respond to you and do not share it.
Community Forum (Members Only)
If you sign in to the Community Forum, we collect the following information through Google OAuth:
- Google account info: Your display name, email address, and profile photo
- YouTube channel ID: Used solely to verify your YouTube channel membership status
When you use the forum, we also store:
- Forum posts and replies: The content you create on the forum
- Profile information: Your display name (which you can customize), avatar (which you can upload), and optional tagline
- Membership level: Your YouTube membership tier, used to display a badge next to your name
- Shout-out preference: Whether you've opted in to being publicly acknowledged as a supporting member (disabled by default for your privacy)
Your YouTube channel membership is re-verified periodically to ensure continued forum access. We do not access your YouTube watch history, subscriptions, or any other YouTube data beyond your channel ID and membership status.
We understand that many forum members may be PIMO (Physically In, Mentally Out) and take your privacy seriously. Your real name is never required — you can use any display name you choose. The shout-out permission is off by default specifically to protect members who need to remain anonymous.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not:
- Use tracking pixels, advertising networks, or behavioral analytics
- Sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party
- Use fingerprinting or cross-site tracking
- Access your YouTube watch history, subscriptions, liked videos, or any content beyond channel ID and membership status
- Store your Google password — authentication is handled entirely by Google's OAuth system
3. Third-Party Services
YouTube
This site links to YouTube (owned by Google). When you click a YouTube link or watch an embedded video, you are subject to Google's Privacy Policy. YouTube may set its own cookies. We have no control over this.
PayPal
The support page links to PayPal for donations. If you choose to donate, you are interacting directly with PayPal and subject to PayPal's Privacy Policy. We do not receive any payment information — only notification that a transaction occurred.
External Links
This site contains links to external websites (e.g., YouTube, JWfacts, academic sources). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before interacting with them.
4. Cookies in Detail
This site uses the following cookies:
All Visitors
- exjw_theme — Saves your light/dark mode and font size preferences. Strictly functional. Value: "light" or "dark". Persistent.
Forum Members (when signed in)
- exjw_forum_session — Identifies your forum login session. Secure, HTTP-only (not accessible to JavaScript). Expires after 30 days. Required for forum access.
- exjw_forum_member — A flag indicating you are a logged-in forum member. Used to show the Forum link in the navigation and suppress the support banner. Not HTTP-only. Expires after 30 days.
- exjw_forum_admin — A flag indicating admin status. Only set for forum administrators. Used to show the admin shortcut in the site header. Expires after 30 days.
You can delete any of these cookies at any time through your browser settings. Deleting the session cookie will log you out of the forum. Deleting the theme cookie will reset to the default light mode.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Forum data: Your forum account, posts, and replies are retained as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us and we will remove your data within 30 days.
Session data: Login sessions expire after 30 days and are automatically cleaned up from the database.
Google OAuth tokens: We store only the minimum information needed to verify your membership. OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest and are deleted when your session expires.
6. Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
